Early tomorrow morning, we are headed to Orlando for Joshua’s Make-a-Wish Trip. We’ve looked forward to it for some time now, both as a vacation and a celebration of sorts. It’s not that Joshua’s treatment is by any means over or less significant when we come back; it’s more of us celebrating the faithfulness of [...]

At least they are in our house. Usually I reserve the weekends for a “Weekends Are For Kids” post, but I thought since today is a big appointment day I might give you a glimpse into Joshua’s treatment cycle in case you’re interested.
Just to refresh your memory, Joshua (then 2 years old) was diagnosed with [...]

You might remember the heartbreaking post a few weeks ago when we had been given tickets to the Tennessee Titans Monday night game. Joshua got sick. No game. No tickets.
The Leukemia Society called again.
Lord willing, we’ll be watching our 10-0 Titans battle Brett Favre and the J-E-T-S, Jets! Jets! Jets! this Sunday at LP Field.

Friday afternoon Jana got an amazing call from the folks at Team in Training. They had a proposition for us.

October 18 marked the 2 year anniversary of Joshua’s diagnosis with leukemia. There’s only about 15 more of those 4 week cycles to go, as we will end treatment, God [...]
Hiding Behind Leukemia

A very honest post this morning. I’ve spent probably an unhealthy amount of time trying to discern how Joshua’s battle with leukemia has affected our family. And me. And I’ve come to this conclusion: I hide behind leukemia. Alot.
And I don’t think I’m alone. We all have a certain amount of pain in our lives, [...]

We are getting to know the Make-a-Wish folks at our house these days. You’ve probably heard about this super cool organization. Its mission is to grant wishes for children affected by life-threatening illnesses. Because of Joshua’s battle with leukemia, we have been recommended to be part of the program.
So last week, Jacquilyn from Make a [...]
Joshua’s Treatment Day

I wanted to devote today’s post to the thing that happens every four weeks in our family—Joshua, our brave 4-year-old, goes to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital for a strong dose of chemotherapy. If you haven’t followed that part of our story, Joshua was diagnosed with leukemia 21 months ago. (You can read all about it here).
Childhood [...]
